Dear Valued Client,
Safer Journeys Program
The Government has released some of the proposed changes they are looking at in relation to Road Safety since our last edition.
As signaled earlier, it would appear that there will be major changes in the Driver Licencing Age, the Give Way Rules and the Drink Drive Limits, to name a few.
It has been indicated that there will be a consultation process undertaken and obviously where there are to be changes to our current Give way rules there will need to be a very extensive education program undertaken.
We will endeavour to keep you informed via this newsletter of developments in this area as they occur.
Vehicle Checks
Those of you who have attended our courses will be aware of the importance we place on regular vehicle checks, particularly in relation to tyres and ensuring you have the correct tyre inflation. Then there is the water and other fluid levels, lights, indicators and other equipment on your vehicle.
We often come across vehicles, when we perform these checks at our courses that still seem to ‘escape the net’ when it comes to being checked. This is particularly so when Pool Vehicles are involved and no one person takes on the responsibility of ensuring these checks are done.
One of our Colleagues has seen this 'hole in the net' and is now providing a service to those Fleet Operators who have difficulty ensuring the basics are checked on their vehicles on a regular and timely basis.
We would like to introduce you to Vehicle Check. This new service is owned and operated by Mark Cooper a former owner of this School who has had a long and extensive career in the Motor Industry. We have enclosed a Vehicle Check brochure in with this edition of Learning Curves for you to read more about it or you can look at www.vehiclecheck.co.nz for more information.
We are sure that for a small investment per vehicle, Mark and his Team will save you much more than that by performing these most basic of checks in a professional and timely basis. If you require more that the basic check we are sure that if you talk to Mark he will be more than willing to be able to offer you what you need at a reasonable cost.
Winter
You only have to look out the window to be reminded that it is Winter.
Even more important to check those essential winter items on your vehicle:
- Tyres – Tread depth and pressure.
- Wipers – Blades in good condition, washer fluid and cleaner, clean interior glass to reduce night glare.
- Lights – All working? Drive with them on 24/7.
- Demisters – front and rear heated windows.
